4. Firing a cloisonné plate

Once I apply enamel to the metal, it's time to watch the glass fuse. A thin layer of enamels is fired in a kiln at 1475° F. Through sequential firings, I build up the enamel coat to the level of cloisonné wires. Usually I fire every metal piece as many as 6-7 times.
